Winter Gas Cans

Railfanning in the winter in Kansas can be exceptionally boring. Traffic is spotty, the weather sucks, and the scenery has less vibrance than Chernobyl. Unlike points that actually receive snow during the winter, winter in Kansas usually means cold, dry wind, and leafless trees. And overcast skies.

Case in point. Here, a unit train hauling tankers with DOT placards marked for diesel fuel rolls southbound down the Emporia Sub on the BNSF transcon, away from Argentine Yard. On the point are BNSF C44-9W #1084 and BNSF C44-9W #4658.

On a side note, the only down-side to shooting at a tight aperture is lens flares from bright lights. I hate that.
