In line with Hoyt's shot of the former C RI & P Tucumcari route now owned by UP, this line, known as the KP line and always owned by the UP, is relatively the same. Flat and mostly straight.

Here, UP SD70MAC #4612 leads UP SD60 #2201, UP GP40-2 #1349, and ex-SP GP40-2 #1534 and a mixed freight manifest east down the mainline in the Sharon Springs sub, east of Hays near the Toulon elevator.
